Description
Site-level lithium-ion recycling capacity in Europe, North America and Asia (excl. plants in China). One row per site, stage and point in time. value is always the site's total capacity for that stage (never an increment). Take the latest non-superseded row per site to get its current or planned size. Only sum rows with the same basis_slug and metric; exclude superseded rows, and exclude region_code 'world' from regional totals. Every row links to its public sources.
Columns
company_slug String Operating company; links to Battery Recycling Companies. site_name String Named site (e.g. 'Harjavalta'). Empty when the source gives only a company-level figure (see granularity). region_code String Where the PLANT is (not the company HQ): ISO alpha-2 country code, a region slug (e.g. europe) for multi-country figures within one region, or 'world' for company totals spanning regions. 'world' rows are excluded from regional sums. granularity String plant (named site), company_country (company total in one country or region, no site), or company_global (company total across regions, no location). chemistry_slug String Chemistry the stated capacity applies to; links to Battery Chemistries. 'lithium-ion' = capacity reported for Li-ion in general (mixed feed, not split by cathode type). A specific slug (lfp, nmc) only when the source ties the capacity itself to that chemistry. Which chemistries a company accepts is in Company Battery Chemistries. stage String pretreatment (discharge, shred, black mass), refining (black mass to metals or salts), or integrated (both at one site). Empty when the source does not say. metric String capacity (what the site can process) or throughput (what it actually processed or produced). Never sum the two. status String operating, under_construction, announced, paused, or cancelled. Rows whose basis_note starts a clause with 'UNCONFIRMED' rest on old announcements with no later evidence. year Int64 Year the value applies to (start of operation, or target year for future rows). A new row is added when capacity changes, giving a history per site. Empty when the source gives no year. value Float64 Reported figure. RULE: always the TOTAL capacity of the site (for that stage) at the row's status and year, never an increment. To get a site's current or future size, take its latest non-superseded row; never sum rows of the same site and stage. Only sum rows with the same basis_slug. Empty when no figure is published. unit String Unit as written in the source; currently t/yr for every row. basis_note String Free-text detail: feed type, permitted vs nameplate, shifts, ownership changes, caveats, and 'UNCONFIRMED: latest evidence ...' flags for stale announcements. superseded Boolean True when a newer or more granular row has replaced this one (e.g. a company total later split into plants, or an older figure updated). Exclude from sums. estimated Boolean True when the value was derived by us rather than reported (e.g. a remainder after subtracting known plants, or t/day converted to t/yr). Never overwrites a reported figure. sources List<String> URLs of the public sources supporting the value and status. last_verified Date Date we last checked the row against its sources. basis_slug String What the tonnes measure; links to Capacity Basis (battery_input, black_mass_input, black_mass_output, product_output, metal_content, not_published). The slug follows what the source says the figure measures, not the plant's stage; judgement calls are explained in basis_note. evidence_year Int64 Publication year of the most recent source supporting the row. Empty when the only sources are undated (company pages, directories). Differs from last_verified, which is when we checked. Filter e.g. evidence_year <= current year - 2 to find stale rows.
